He has since relayed to us that the pastor has apparantly said: "petition all you want-it ain't gonna happen." I have one question: were all those multi-tongued European Visigoths, Barbarians, and otherwise pagan savages coming into the Church and to the Mass because they were facinated by the sound of Latin?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020370.post-66584108856740137332007-07-08T10:15:00.000-07:002007-07-08T10:15:00.000-07:00Yes . . .If the dear laddies had obeyed rubrics an...Yes . . .

If the dear laddies had obeyed rubrics and all that we might not have noticed that modern vernacular languages can be deader than Latin.

Though he would not likely be eager and enthusiastic to hear it, long live Pope Benedict XVI!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5020370.post-88071751623889227382007-07-08T05:24:00.000-07:002007-07-08T05:24:00.000-07:00Praise God for Pope Benedict!I too have been eager...Praise God for Pope Benedict!

I too have been eager for this document and I am glad it is finally here. I have no love for liturgical aberrations and I hope this will move the Church in the right direction. A well done, reverent liturgy has great power to catechize the faithful and to draw non-Catholics to the truth of Christ.

My only caution is to not give in to the sin of pride, arrogance and boasting. May we follow St. Paul's exhortation in today's second reading in Galatians, "May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."

We must diligently work to fulfill the words of Pope Benedict from this Apostolic Letter and see that we remain, "under the guidance of the bishop in accordance with Canon 392, avoiding discord and favoring the unity of the whole Church."

This is a great day, but let us make sure that through our words and deeds we use this to build up the Church, to unify and not divide (John 17), to reach out to the weak and unfaithful, and to draw all men to Christ and the fullness of His truth in the Catholic Church, whether it is a reverent Novus Ordo Mass or a reverent Mass according to the 1962 Missal.

In Christ,
DrakeAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16690155550511382432noreply@blogger.com
