"Starting"?

"Cinema, the world's youngest muse, is starting to show distinct signs of dimentia... The world has a fever. Societies are ill and frightened. The cinema feels it and - not knowing how to deal with the disease - pretends there is no fever and so continues to play the waltz on the modern day Titanic."
(Polish director, Agnieszka Holland, speaking at the Dutch Film Fest, 9/26/04)

How true this is. I was wondering when someone in the secular world was going to start speaking the truth about this. I am not surprised that this statement was made by someone outside of the Hollywood establishment. If it would have been made by a successful American director, I probably would have fallen out of my chair.

Holland was a bit of an odd bird in communist Poland, being the only major director not educated at the great Lodz film school. As her father was labeled a reactionary, she had to attend film school in Czechoslovakia.
